In centuries of history, the countries England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, known as the United Kingdom, so much to offer to tourists together
I am originally from England now living in Canada and to be honest I have never recognized the beauty and history of Britain, when I lived there. Now, after living in Canada for many years I have come to the history and culture of this magnificent islands who appreciate the United Kingdom.
Canada, where I live now is a wonderful country and has much to offer as well, but in a different way by a young country of just over 200 years is not just the story offered in the UK.
Britain's roads picturesque, quaint country inevitably lead to a historic pub or a nice pension
Britain is full of extremes, Yorkshire Moors with its stone houses and wandering sheep, is the Lake District with its beautiful lakes, castles and palaces in countries dotted the many art galleries and attractions, unique cities like Chester he Tudor buildings, city walls as York. Centuries of history mixed with modern cities.
My absolute favorite tourist destination is Hampton Court, north of London, and originally the home of Henry VIII and his unfortunate wives. The extensive grounds offer beautiful gardens, a maze and an English tea room. The historic building still contains some of the original furniture of Henry, paintings and the opulence of the time. Animators can be found throughout the building and the kitchens are well worth a visit. Not for wimps, but we can 'forget the corridor says Anne Boleyn spirit, the corridors with their heads still walk under his arm !!!!
Nelson's flagship HMS Victory is located in Portsmouth Dockyard. Once in the WRENS (Womens' Royal Navy) it was I always had a yen for the ocean, so I was very intrigued by this historic ship. All bridges are red cover, painted by the crew lost no blood in the fight, and the entire ship seems to have been made for children because the bunk beds and dining tables and chairs are child size. The reason for this is that the average size of the men was in the days of Nelson between 4 to 5 meters, dwarfs by today's standards.
Fish and chips in newspaper and strawberry afternoon tea with scones are still an ingrained part of the culture. There is so much to see, the Blarney Stone in Ireland, the Llangollen Music Festival in Wales, the Edinburgh Tattoo in Scotland, Stonehenge and the Roman Baths in Bath.
And, of course, not forgetting the beautiful city of London with the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace, the Royal Jewels at the Tower of London, the famous London Eye - Ferris, the St. Paul's Cathedral, the Tate Art Gallery, Soho , great plays and Piccadilly Circus, only a few of the things to do in London alone. Enjoy the shops of Oxford Street and Regent Street visiting Harrods for goods of the highest level or stop the market stalls to Petty Coat Lane, you were to get to bid.
I suggest that, if the first time you take one of the many guided tours and why. It will definitely get to see more and more out of your experience. Also, remember that the British unit on the opposite side of the road, so it was a little 'fear of being, as there are many narrow country roads and highways are super busy. Public transport, trains, buses, and tubing are excellent across the UK and a great way to get around without worrying about driving and parking.
